The court sentenced the wife of the ex-mayor of Tomsk Klein to two years conditionally for assault during a search

The defendant was found guilty of using violence against a government official. She received a two-year suspended sentence.

The court established that in November 2020, Galina Klein attacked the security officer and inflicted an abrasion on his neck, preventing the investigation team from entering the apartment for searches. Then she tried to get rid of 1.3 billion rubles by throwing them out the window. A pillow with money and bank cards was caught by the ex-mayor's driver to hide in the car, but he was detained.

Tomsk Mayor Ivan Klein was arrested on November 14, 2020. He is charged with exceeding his powers in connection with the illegal allocation of a land plot to his daughter, as well as in fraud with land in favor of his enterprise “Tomskoe Pivo”. Klein pleaded not guilty. On November 18 of the same year, he was removed from office.

Klein became mayor of the city in 2013. Prior to that, since 1997, he was a deputy of the Tomsk Regional Duma. Also, before taking office as mayor, he was the general director of OJSC Tomskoe Pivo.
