“Pyaterochka” and “Magnit” ordered to reduce food prices

FAS revealed overpricing in Pyaterochka and Magnit stores in Kursk region The region revealed cases of overpricing for food in the stores of the Pyaterochka and Magnit retail chains in several municipal districts of the region. This is stated on the official website of the department.

During the inspection, the FAS staff found that in those municipalities where one of the networks occupied a dominant position, the cost of products, in particular, chickens, butter, eggs, potatoes, cabbage, onions, carrots, flour, rice and millet was higher than in stores in Kursk. Violations were revealed in seven districts.

The department ordered retail chains to stop unreasonable overstatement of retail prices and reduce them within 10 days. The FAS noted that they are keeping the situation under special control.

At the end of September, similar claims against Pyaterochka and Magnit arose from the FAS in the Moscow region. The agency revealed a 10 percent excess in the cost of flour, bread, chicken and pork due to the dominant position of the chains. In early October, stores reported a decrease in food prices.
