In Rostov-on-Don, at the age of 96, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War Grigory Nikanorov, who took part in the storming of the Reichstag and signed on its wall, died. Andrey Kudryakov, head of the Mius-Front search unit, wrote about this on Facebook.

Nikanorov went to the front in February 1943, took part in battles on the Mius-Front, Dnieper, Stalingrad, Crimea, Poland. In addition, the veteran received several dozen awards, among them the Order of Glory III degree and three medals “For Courage.” (…) We discussed my war stories together, he suggested to me several stories so amazing that they can be used to make films, “said Kudryakov.

According to the information of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia, during a pandemic in the country, every fourth veteran of the Great Patriotic War died. In a year and a half, their number dropped from 1.21 million to 896806.
