“I am surprised at such frivolous methods. The leaders of the countries do not communicate with each other via Twitter or the publication of letters … “- said the politician, recommending Johnson to use traditional diplomatic channels.

Macron pointed to the need for serious work to resolve complex issues and stressed that the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanen of France will soon meet with colleagues from the EU and the EC to work in this direction. “Then we'll see how you can effectively deal with Britain if it decides to be serious,” Macron stressed.

Earlier, Boris Johnson proposed to Macron a plan to combat illegal migration across the English Channel, posting on Twitter corresponding letter. Johnson suggested that Paris take the illegal immigrants back to their place, which angered the French side. French Interior Minister canceled a scheduled meeting with British colleague Priti Patel in protest.
