Israel is thinking about the suspension of flights to South Africa due to a new strain

The Israeli authorities are evaluating the possibility of stopping flights to South Africa .1.1.529 previously discovered. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

It is noted that Bennett held urgent consultations on this matter with the heads of the Ministry of Health and Civil Defense Services, after which he included the countries of this region on the list of banned for visiting by the Israelis, and also instructed to evaluate the possibility of ending flights with them.

Earlier, the United Kingdom canceled flights with six African countries due to a new strain of coronavirus. From November 26, London will stop flights to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini and South Africa.

On November 24, it became known that ten people were infected with the B.1.1.529 strain in South Africa, Botswana and Hong Kong. British scientists have suggested that the new strain will be better at evading antibodies than the delta variant. The many mutations in B.1.1.529 suggest that the virus originated in a patient with a weakened immune system – a patient with HIV or AIDS. It is believed to be the most dangerous infection.
