Sputnik V showed the best result in protection against lethal cases in Hungary

Russian vaccine against COVID-19 Sputnik V showed the best protective efficacy against fatalities in Hungary, where four other vaccines are in use. Such results on vaccinations in a European country are evidenced by a study published in Science Direct.

The study analyzed data on 3.7 million vaccinated Hungarians. The subjects received a full course of vaccination with two components of different vaccines. So, along with Sputnik V, Hungary uses Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca. The studies were conducted from January 22 to June 10, 2021.

“With an efficacy rate against coronavirus deaths of 98 percent and an efficacy against infection of 85.7 percent, Sputnik V performed the best among the top five vaccines (“Sputnik V”, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca) used by the EU Member State – Hungary, as part of an independent study of the data of 3.7 million vaccinated persons “, – Interfax quotes the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund ( RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev.

Earlier it became known that the inspection of the World Health Organization (WHO) for testing the Sputnik V vaccine may arrive in Russia as early as December 2021. According to Dmitriev, the Ministry of Health negotiated the visit of the inspection to Russia. Dmitriev also noted positive trends in the process of recognition of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus by the international community.
