Putin appointed a new director of the Federal Penitentiary Service

President Putin appointed Colonel-General of Police Arkady Gostev as director of the FSIN This is stated in the corresponding decree of the head of state.

Police Colonel General Gostev has been appointed to replace the dismissed Alexander Kalashnikov.

The new director of the FSIN previously served as deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Gostev was born in 1961 in the Shatsk district of the Ryazan region. He came to the service in the internal affairs bodies in 1981, starting his career as a police officer in the patrol and guard service. Graduated from the Moscow Higher Police School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. He worked as an investigator, rose to the head of the department for the investigation of organized crime.

On June 16, 2012 Gostev was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia. Has state awards, including medals “For Valor in Service”, “For Combat Commonwealth”, “For Impeccable Service”, “For Excellence in the Maintenance of Public Order”, “In Commemoration of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow.
