Plastic surgery ads will be banned from showing to minors

CAP: publicly broadcast beauty standards have a negative impact on teens in 2022. This is reported by Sky News.

Representatives of the Committee on Advertising Practices (CAP) explained that publicly broadcast beauty standards have a negative impact on adolescent self-esteem, well-being and mental health.

“From “Because of the inherent risks of cosmetic interventions and the potential attractiveness of these services for minors struggling with self-doubt issues, it is important that we set the bar high in terms of marketing,” said CAP Director Shahriar Coupal.

It is known that from May 2022, advertising of cosmetic procedures, such as breast augmentation and reduction, liposuction, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, facelift, teeth whitening, skin rejuvenation, filler injections, etc., will be banned from being shown to children under 18 years. The restrictions will apply to television programs and media that are available for viewing by minors.

In October, England banned Botox injections for children under 18 years of age. Conservative MP Laura Trott has presented a bill according to which medical practitioners will be able to inject Botox to minors only for medical reasons. “I am grateful to the government for its support in making my bill a reality. I am immensely proud and relieved that today's children will be protected from procedures they don't need, ”Trott shared.
