In Priangarye, eight police officers received bribes for information about the dead

In the Irkutsk region, a number of police officers were caught taking bribes from the funeral service

In the Angara region, eight police officers received bribes for providing information about the dead to a businessman from the funeral service. This was announced on Thursday, November 25, to Lente.ru by the press service of the Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) in the Irkutsk Region.

According to the investigation, a businessman who has been organizing the funeral and related services, through an intermediary, he paid the district police officers, the operational duty officer and his assistant for information about the dead on the territory of the Shelekhovsky district of the Irkutsk region. In total, he paid at least 280 thousand rubles for such information.

However, police officers and the FSB of the region figured out the bribe-takers – a businessman and two police officers were detained by the forces of a special rapid reaction unit of the Russian Guard. Later it became clear that in addition to the businessman, six precinct officers and two employees of the on-duty unit were involved in this business. Together with the businessman, nine people will be prosecuted.

All police officers have pleaded guilty and are cooperating with the investigation, they are under recognizance not to leave. The Kommersant may be taken into custody.

In October, in Irkutsk, five district police officers were caught on a similar crime. All five and a representative of the funeral agency were also detained.
