17 Russians detained for real estate fraud worth 140 million rubles

Ministry of Internal Affairs: 17 people were detained in Moscow in the case of fraud with housing worth 140 million rubles. real estate and 16 accomplices suspected of fraud worth 140 million rubles. This was announced on Thursday, November 25, to Lente.ru by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk.

The special operation was carried out by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the investigation, members of the criminal group collected information about the deceased owners of real estate, and then impersonated buyers or heirs, registered the property for themselves using fake documents, and then sold apartments on the secondary housing market. The cost of each apartment ranged from 6 to 30 million rubles. The buyers found out a few months later that the deal was invalid and the sale and purchase agreement was fictitious.

Members of the criminal community managed to take possession of 15 real estate objects. Searches in the office premises belonging to the director of the agency found fake passports, bogus consent forms, agreements, certificates of inheritance, money transfer receipts, sales contracts and lists with apartment addresses. Investigators also seized personal documents of deceased citizens, money, bank cards and jewelry.

A criminal case was initiated under Articles 159 (Fraud) and 210 (Organization of a criminal community) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
