Egypt has become the most popular foreign destination among Russians for New Year's trips; it accounts for about 50 percent of all sold vouchers. This was stated by Alexan Mkrtchyan, General Director of the Pink Elephant travel agency network, in an interview with Izvestia.
The average cost of a New Year's trip to Egypt is 80 thousand rubles. Next in the preferences of Russians for the New Year holidays is Turkey. According to travel agencies, the New Year's week at the “three stars” hotel in Kemer will cost two tourists 21.1 thousand rubles. At the same time, a five-star hotel in Antalya will cost significantly more – 69 thousand for two with all-inclusive meals.
The third place was taken by the Emirates. The cost of a weekly New Year's holiday in Dubai starts at 86.2 thousand rubles for two.
The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Maldives were also included in the top five New Year's destinations in demand among Russians.
Previously, domestic tourists were told alternative ways to return to Russia from Egypt and avoid queues at airports. According to the experts, one of the available options to avoid going through “enhanced security checks” is a transplant in Turkey. Thus, a flight on the route Moscow – Sharm el-Sheikh – Moscow with a connection in Istanbul costs about 24.6 thousand rubles.
