Pashinyan praised the role of Russia in ensuring the security of Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan praised the role of Russia in ensuring the security of the republic and the contribution of Russian peacekeepers to maintaining peace in Nagorno-Karabakh. RIA Novosti writes about this.

The politician called Russia a strategic partner of Armenia. He also commented on the criticism of the CSTO in connection with its position on the conflict in Karabakh. According to Pashinyan, Yerevan will not consider the possibility of leaving this organization. He noted that the CSTO is a channel and platform not only for multilateral cooperation, but also for strategic relations with Moscow.

The Prime Minister of Armenia stressed that Russia is a friendly, allied country for Azerbaijan, in connection with which it tries to find solutions to the problem in the region by non-violent means. “We want our allies and partners to use political leverage to protect our common interests,” Pashinyan said.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation and discussed the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia thanked the Russian leader “for active mediation efforts” in the framework of a peaceful settlement. In addition, politicians discussed the stabilization of the situation in the region.
