NATO military exercises with the participation of the United States started in Latvia at the Adazi training ground Shield 2021. US European Command is taking part in the event. This is reported by TASS.
Motorized infantry of Latvia, the Armed Forces of Lithuania, the combat group of the expanded NATO presence in Latvia and fighters of the local militia are involved in the exercise. NATO soldiers practice live fire, test artillery, military equipment and aviation.

The place of the exercises – the Adazh training ground – is located not far from the capital city of Riga, less than 300 kilometers from the borders of Russia. NATO troops occupied it for 12 days, until December 4, 2021. The exercises are held every day from 9:00 to 23:00.
On November 21, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova called the joint exercises of Estonia and the United States the creation of a “NATO foothold” near the borders of Russia. According to Zakharova, NATO is artificially creating tension near Russia.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the pulling together of the forces of the North Atlantic Alliance closer to Russian territory. Putin accused the alliance of effectively breaking off diplomatic relations with Russia.
