One of the organizers of the referendum in Donbass was caught in Ukraine

SBU detained one of the organizers of the referendum in Donetsk region to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian department.

According to the SBU, the detainee, being in Donbass in 2014, urged the citizens of Ukraine to tear down state flags and vote for the region’s annexation to the DPR, and also incited people to “riots” under the guise of rallies and public meetings.

The department added that later the man left the territory of the Donetsk region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities and was in Crimea for a long time. Later, he returned to Ukraine on personal matters and was caught by the SBU.

It is noted that he was informed about suspicion of committing a crime under part two of Article 110 (“Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”) of the Criminal Code of the republic. back in 2017. Currently, the Ukrainian security forces are conducting a pre-trial investigation.

In September, the SBU detained one of the organizers of the referendum on the independence of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). According to the investigation, in 2014 a man headed the election commission in the Novopskovsky district of the Luhansk region and actively participated in organizing the voting.
