Spahn's statement was made against the background of statements by a number of German politicians about the possible introduction of compulsory vaccination in the country. In particular, the Prime Minister of Bavaria Markus Seder said that the increase in the number of cases among the unvaccinated “broke through the ceiling” and expressed the hope that the authorities will not have to introduce compulsory vaccinations.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, over the past day in Germany, 30 643 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded, 62 people died. At the same time, the number of infections per 100 thousand people amounted to 386.5 cases, which is an anti-record for the country.
