The main drawback of the new Windows is named

Windows 11 SE cannot be restored after uninstallation

Windows 11 SE cannot be reinstalled or restored after uninstallation. This is reported by the publication ArsTechnica.

Experts have studied the documentation of the light version of Windows 11 and named the main drawback, in their opinion, of the operating system. It turned out that the OS cannot be installed on third-party computers – the software is certified for use only with specific models. Thus, in order to become a user of Windows 11 SE, you need to purchase a computer on which this OS is preinstalled.

Journalists also learned that the operating system cannot be written to a disc and then reinstalled on the computer. If the OS is removed, its recovery is impossible. “The situation is similar to how Microsoft licenses the ARM versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11,” the authors noted. According to them, this severely restricts users and “binds” them to a specific hardware.

The material says that Chrome OS, which the new system is competing with, can be reinstalled after uninstallation. Windows 11 SE is known to ship with notebooks from Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, Fujitsu, HP, JK-IP, Lenovo and Positivo.

Windows 11 SE was released in mid-November. The simplified OS will only be available on new low-cost devices and only for educational institutions.
