INTERFAX.RU — Ukraine after the November incident in the Kerch Strait is negotiating to purchase 22 French patrol boats for needs of frontier guards, and on the coast of the sea of Azov erected observation towers, the head of the Ukrainian state border guard service Peter Cigital in an interview to “5 channel”.


According to him, if all the questions on this transaction will be successfully resolved, it will give the state border service to fully cover the line of the Maritime boundary and provide protection.

Another important element is the control system for surface situation. Now on the coast of the Azov sea has already built five towers during the year will be equipped with modern means of visual and radio control. Chekal noted that after the events of 25 November 2018 in the Kerch Strait, when the Russian border guards detained three Ukrainian ships and their crews, the ships of the state border service transferred to full combat readiness.

In addition, according to Cigital, “practiced responses, together with the headquarters of the environmental protection (operations joint forces in the Donbas — Interfax) and in the unified plan of the forces of the national security sector and defense”.

Cigital added that the objective is to create in the Azov and Black seas and powerful mobile groups of border ships and boats, which could quickly and effectively perform law-enforcement functions and to counter military threats at the initial stage of the armed conflict.
