Zakharov: Poroshenko took a chance on the “global world”
The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the statement of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said about the need for “cold, but of peace” with Russia. According to Ms. Zakharova, the President of Ukraine had a chance to establish relations with Moscow, but he didn’t.
“Poroshenko was a chance for global peace: both inside the country and in the world — the implementation of the Minsk agreements. He didn’t take it. To make empty promises without fulfilling the previous one — so typical of him,” — said “RIA Novosti” the representative of the foreign Ministry.
According to Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine needs a “peace with Russia” because “people are tired of war.” However, he said that “to ensure peace can only be efficient army”, but promised to continue “line for the resumption of territorial integrity of Ukraine through political and diplomatic means”. The corresponding statement he made at the forum “From Cool to Brussels. We go our own way” in Kiev. During his speech, Mr Poroshenko also announced he would run as a candidate on presidential elections of Ukraine which will take place March 31.
