The United States and Canada took to the air planes because of the flight of the Tu-160 in the Arctic

MOSCOW, 27 Jan — RIA Novosti. Several military aircraft of the United States and Canada was lifted in the air because of the flight of two Russian strategic Tu-160 bombers near the airspace of Canada, according to the command of the aerospace defense of North America (North American Aerospace Defense Command, NORAD).

“E-3 AWACS, and two F-22 and two CF-18 of the command of the aerospace defense of North America identified two Russian strategic bombers included in the Identification zone air defence of Canada January 26, 2019”, — he said the command in Twitter.

It is noted that “the bombers remained in international airspace and had not entered sovereign territory.”

As informs television channel FOX News, the US fighters took off from air bases in Alaska.

Earlier, the press service of the defense Ministry reported that two strategic Tu-160 carried out planned flights over neutral waters of the Arctic ocean, Laptev sea, and Barents and Kara seas, in the skies after spending more than 15 hours. It was noted that all flights of the aerospace defence forces of Russia are carried out in strict accordance with International rules of airspace use.
