At the previous meeting three days ago, political opponents failed to agree.

The shutdown began on 22 December after Democrats refused to support the draft budget allocating $5.7 billion to the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico.

“Democrats should return to Washington and work to end the shutdown and at the same time to put an end to the terrible humanitarian crisis at the southern border. I’m waiting for you to the White house,” wrote trump on his Twitter page.

Democrats could solve the Shutdown in 15 minutes! Call your Dem Senator or Congresswoman/man. Tell them to get it done! Humanitarian Crisis.

On Wednesday, trump met with the leaders of the Democrats in the Senate and the house of representatives. After they confirmed to the President that it is not going to agree on the allocation of money for the construction of the wall, trump called off the meeting, later calling it a waste of time.

The current government shutdown of the United States due to the lack of funding is the longest in the history of the country. Still not functioning about a quarter of Federal government agencies, 800 000 civil servants remain on forced leave without pay. Because of the shutdown trump has cancelled his trip to the world economic forum in Davos.
