RCDS stopped the first criminal case after the easing of articles on extremism
The investigative Committee closed the criminal case for reposts in social networks “Vkontakte” against the Manager of Tver after the signing by Russian President Vladimir Putin amendments on partial decriminalization of the article on extremism. This was announced by the head of the human rights group “Agora” Pavel Chikov in his official channel in the Telegram.
“The TFR ceased in connection with the amendments to article 282 of the criminal case against 46-year-old Manager of Tver Sergey Sokolov. The reason for the criminal persecution of steel repost images and text on the personal page in social network “Vkontakte” from 11 December 2015 to 6 August 2017″, — stated in the message.
The decision to discontinue the criminal case will be awarded after the Christmas holidays following the approval of the Prosecutor, the report States.

According to the explanatory Memorandum to the bill, in the course of analysis of law enforcement practices revealed that a criminal prosecution under part 1 of article 282 of the criminal code is not always justified.
The act provides for criminal prosecution for extremism, which was done publicly, on the Internet, including on social networks or in the media only in case if a person was brought to administrative responsibility for such an act in the course of one year.
According to the documents, the first violation will be added to the administrative. The code of administrative offences is supplemented with article 20.3 according to which the citizens for the violation will be fined up to 20 thousand rubles., up to 100 hours of forced labor or up to 15 days of arrest. The maximum fine for legal persons is 500 thousand rubles.
