St. PETERSBURG, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. Specialists of the Russian Museum found considered lost portrait of Alexander Pushkin works by the artist Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin under the top layer of another artist’s paintings, according to the Museum.

According to head of the technological research Department of the Russian Museum Sergei Cirreux, the outline of the another image below the picture of “the Farm” can be seen even by visual inspection, but specialists took special equipment to find out who it is depicted underneath the top layer.

“In the study using the instrument in order to see the image under the top layer, we were able to identify a person depicted by these workers… here the poet’s head, shoulders, coat, he sits on the couch,” says Cirreux in the video posted on the Museum website.

According to him, it used to be that Petrov-Vodkin did not like his portrait of Pushkin and he destroyed it.

“We found the work, which is almost 80 years was considered lost,” notes Cirreux.
