Skvortsova criticized the diet of Russians
The head of the Ministry of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova said about the dangers to health of a diet of inhabitants of the country.
She emphasized that the representatives of the male population became twice as obese.
The health Minister noted that currently the Ministry develops measures to reduce consumption by Russians of sugar and salt, for example, possible excise taxes reported on Thursday, December 13, “Interfax”.
“At the age of 35-40 years obese and 27% of men and 25% women, and aged 55-64 years — 36% and 52%, respectively. A twofold increase in the prevalence of obesity in men from 12 to 27%” — led Skvortsova statistics of the world health organization (who).
She also noted that every fifth Russian daily eats fast food, especially this tendency is observed for residents of cities.
Skvortsova added that in 2017 the consumption of vegetables accounted for 73% of the recommended norms, and sugar and confectionery products — 130%. To solve this problem, the Minister has proposed to introduce excise taxes on beverages with high sugar content.
In September Deputy Chairman of the state Duma Committee on health protection Leonid Ogul proposed to prohibit the sale in schools of chips, crackers, carbonated drinks and chocolate bars at the level of legislation. In his opinion, such measures would reduce the number of cardiovascular diseases in connection with obesity.
