NEW YORK, 2 Dec. /TASS/. The Minister of defence of the USA James Mattis believes, that Russia was trying to influence the midterm elections to Congress, and relations between the two countries deteriorated over the past two years. Such allegations, the Pentagon delivered on Saturday in California.
The Mattis was asked about deteriorated since he took office in January of 2017 relations between Moscow and Washington. “No doubt, relations deteriorated,” — said the Minister. According to him, from Moscow in October was an attempt to “interfere again in the [American] elections”.
“We see that continuing such actions”, — he added.
“I don’t know, increased the threat,” added Mattis. According to his version, it is about “continuing to try to undermine the democratic process that must be protected”. On the question of whether Washington “to go on the offensive” against Russia and China in cyberspace, Mattis said, “We will do everything necessary to protect them [the democratic process]”.
