Two beekeeper was called to remove a swarm of bees that had started building a nest in the engine of one of our aircraft in Durban on Sunday. Unfortunately, this meant delays at three of our scheduled flights. The bees were safely removed.

One of them was beekeeper with 50 years of experience Melvin Dawson. According to his calculations, the engine settled to about 20 thousand bees that were just looking for a new home and found the turbine liner is quite a comfortable place.

Because of the arrangement of bees Melvin and his partner failed to use a standard for such cases, the chimneys and the stairs. Therefore, standing on a small stepladder, men selflessly chased insects with arms and palm branches.
