At the end of 2018 thousand worms will travel to the ISS, where scientists were able to obtain more data about muscle loss caused by space flight. The study will be conducted by the Specialists of the Space Agency of the UK. People lose up to 40% of their muscle mass after six months in space, according to Metro.

The experiment uses microscopic worms, Caenorhabditis elegans. At the molecular level they are very similar to people and also easy to care for. Biologists want to find the molecules that are responsible for problems with the muscles during space flight. Experiment also will help to more effectively deal with aging and even diabetes.
