Every year since 2008, in late August-early September in the Japanese Prefecture of Niigata in the Park Vascilate held an event called Wara Art Festival.

In fact, it is an exhibition of huge sculptures of animals and mythical characters, made by students and teachers from the local art University. All giant figures made of rice straw that remains after harvest.

All the sculptures have their drawings and going on a wooden base by hand. The Assembly of the pieces take one to two weeks.

This year, festival guests can admire the giant straw of a mammoth, a saber-toothed tiger, the monkey, the goat and the Hippo.
