Director General, Russian state library (RSL) Vadim Duda explained fashion show of Italian fashion house Ermanno Scervino, which was held in the reading room of the institution, and was criticized in social networks. “The library is not a religious institution and cemetery. We must remain open to all groups and communities, regardless of academic level, religious affiliation or political position. We can’t dismissive or derogatory about any of the communities, even if they do not share their views or way of life,” — said the Director of the RSL.

Duda added that the event was agreed upon before he took office and recognized that it was “on the verge”. He promised not to hold in the halls of the library of dubious banquets and photo shoots.

“Personally, I am willing to apologize to those whose warm attitude to Leninka was piqued appearing in the press photos. Not mistaken only one who does nothing, and the negative experience of the incident will also be taken into account,” he said.
