The Finance Ministry is not against the introduction of tourist tax across the country
The Finance Ministry is ready to support the introduction of tourism data collection in the regions of the “Golden ring” and other regions of Russia, said first Deputy Minister of Finance Leonid Gornin in an interview to “RIA Novosti” at the Moscow financial forum.

According to the Deputy Minister, it would be very helpful to distribute the levy across the country.
“In my opinion, it would be possible to grant the right to all the subjects of the Russian Federation to introduce a tourist, or as it is called, “hotel” collection. This could be actors, as we say “Golden ring”, for example, Vladimir region and other regions that could benefit from this right,” said Mr. Gornin.
However, he clarified that the imposition of a fee should offer the regions themselves.
“Still, it’s regional income and local income. The Finance Ministry has no plans to 2019 any changes. But yeah, I think it would be possible to consider the issue in a positive way, if the legislative initiative came from the Russian Federation. Until this proposal came out only in St. Petersburg”, — said Leonid Gornin.
That the regions may obtain the right to charge a tourist fee — 2% of the accommodation price, previously told RBC. Now in several regions of Russia there is a tax for the use of resort infrastructure. May the experiment on the resort collection involved Krasnodar, Stavropol and Altai Krai. Crimean authorities have postponed the introduction of a levy for the year 2019.
