Russian actress received a prize at the Venice film festival

Actress Natalia Kudryashova received the prize of the 75th Venice film festival for her role in the film by Natalia Merkulova and Alexei Chupov “the Man who surprised everyone”.

Film about the struggle of Siberian huntsman cancer were presented in the competition program “Horizons”.

“We brought a complex film. We in Russia is difficult to make bold films, but I think we started and, we hope, will continue,” said the actress, receiving the award on stage (quoted by “Interfax”).

The main prize was awarded to Alfonso Cuaron for “Roma” on a simple Mexican family whose life changes because of political events of the 1970-ies. The Grand Prix of the jury gave a costume film about the court of the English Queen Anne Stuart “Minion” Greek Director Giorgos Lanthimos, and the “Silver lion” for best Director was won by the Frenchman Jacques Audiard film, a parody of the classic Western “the Sisters Brothers”.

Best actor was recognized Willem Dafoe for his role in the film “van Gogh. On the threshold of eternity”, best actress was Olivia Colman (“Mistress”). The prize for best screenplay was awarded to the Coen brothers for the film “the Ballad of Buster Scruggs”.
