WASHINGTON, 24 Aug — RIA Novosti. American Republican Senator John McCain has decided to stop the treatment of brain cancer in terminal stage, said the family statement.

“Progressive disease and inexorable aging issued its verdict. With its usual strength of will, he decided to stop treatment,” the statement says. There’s also thanked everyone who supported McCain.

The statement noted that the 81-year-old Senator has already surpassed the expectations of doctors as to how much he has left to live.

About the disease, John McCain was officially announced in 2017, it was claimed that he was suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer — glioblastoma.

John McCain is one of the most prominent politicians in the United States, in 2008, he was nominated for President from the Republican party, but lost to Barack Obama.

Now the Senator from Arizona heads the armed services Committee of the U.S. Senate. He repeatedly critical remarks in relation to Russia, including allowing offensive expression in the address of Vladimir Putin and Sergey Lavrov.
