Lavrov rejected the possibility of Russia’s use of the Taliban to fight with ISIS
SOCHI, August 21. /TASS/. The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday rejected the use of Russian representatives of radical movement “the Taliban” (banned in Russia) to combat terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).
“I can’t imagine, even hypothetically, Russia could use the Taliban to fight with ISIS — Lavrov said at a press conference with first Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, responding to a question. — We are fighting ISIS with all means at our disposal, support the SAR in this fight, assist in equipping the Iraqi army for the same purpose”.
