Pompeo called China the main problem of the United States
WASHINGTON, 25 Aug — RIA Novosti. The main opponent of USA in the coming years is China, said at the hearing in the U.S. Congress, Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
Referring to the Secretary of state, Senator Marco Rubio said that “for the first time since the Second world war the United States compete with the enemy, which is almost equal to them”. According to him, China “in the long run is the most serious threat to US security”.
“Senator, you described what I think is the main difficulty for US in the coming years, and maybe in the coming decade, it is China’s problem,” said Pompeo. The Secretary said the administration understands the need for a comprehensive response to this problem.
“The whole West, not only the U.S. was too slow in his reaction (to China’s development), I think the understanding of this is, but I do not think that today there is a structure that can comprehensively to answer that,” said U.S. Secretary of state.
