The United States suspended the supply of Turkey’s F-35 fighter because of the purchase of the country’s air defense systems s-400 from Russia, reported Bloomberg. In the period of 90 days, the Pentagon must submit a report on the impact of cancellation of the transaction on U.S.-Turkish relations in the context of procurement of Russian systems and about the consequences of the emergence of Turkey from the F-35 for the U.S. companies.
Earlier, the US defence Secretary Jim Mattis has urged the congressmen to abandon the idea of a ban of deliveries of the F-35. In total Turkey contract for $10 billion going to the US from 100 F-35 fighter. In June, Turkey has received the first two fifth generation fighter F-35 Lockheed Martin.
The Senate bill on the budget of the Pentagon already provides a ban on the sale of the F-35 Turkey in connection with the plans of the Turkish authorities to buy Russian anti-aircraft missile systems s-400.
