Astronomers warned of a magnetic storm on 24 July
MOSCOW, 23 Jul — RIA Novosti. The first magnetic storm of level G1 on a scale will cover the Earth on July 24, data from a laboratory x-ray astronomy of the Sun Physical Institute named Lebedev, Russian Academy of Sciences (FIAN).
According to forecasts, the storm will begin with 6:00 GMT, the magnetosphere will remain excited till about noon.
Magnetic storms, categorized as a G1 event on a scale, can lead to weak fluctuations in power systems and also have a small impact on system control of spacecraft. While auroras can be observed at high latitudes from 60 degrees and above.

The previous storm occurred on 28 June, 6 and 7 may and the largest since the beginning of 2018 — April 20. To do this, this intensity maximum was only one storm this year that occurred in the night from 18 to 19 March Moscow time, however, the duration of the maximum phase then was only about 2.5 hours, astronomers say.
The passage of Earth through the solar wind streams such width is not an exceptional event and is often observed near the solar activity minimum. This is due to the fact that the minimum of the solar cycle is considerably weakened magnetic field of the Sun, and it partially loses its ability to retain solar plasma near the stellar surface. As a result significantly increases the speed and density of fleeing from the Sun, flows of matter that constitute the solar wind. A few of these long series of geomagnetic disturbances was observed last year during the transition to solar minimum.
