According to the Agency Europa Press, the Minister noted the need for the US to take the first step to dialogue, without which the Commission could not formulate its own proposals.

He also said that in the case of the introduction of Washington’s new duties on European goods, Europe will not remain other exit, except introduction of retaliatory measures and the EU will discuss free trade negotiations with the United States until, while Washington will not abandon its import duties on aluminium and steel.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump has threatened a large-scale duties on cars from the EU. The Commission, in turn, has prepared a response in case of imposition of such duties.
