One time here, even trained astronauts.

This crater is one of the biggest on the planet, but because it is often removed in the scientific and documentary films, and in the 1960s, before sending to the moon are here to train NASA astronauts.

Until the beginning of XX century it was believed that the crater in Arizona was formed as a result of volcanic activity, but in 1902 a hypothesis about its space origin has nominated engineer Daniel Moreau Barringer, who bought this land and began to pursue there studies to prove his innocence. 26 years old scientist spent searching for remnants of the meteorite, but nothing found. Only 30 years after his death, a geologist and planetary scientist Eugene shoemaker was able to prove a cosmic origin of this depression.

Now the land still belongs to the family of Barringer.
