As reported, the population of the Russian Federation for 2017 increased by 77,4 million, for the year 2016 — on 259,7 thousand.
The number of births in Russia in January-may 2018 fell to 651,1 thousand people with 679,2 thousand for the same period last year. The number of deaths in January-may this year rose to 798,3 thousand 791 thousand in January-may of 2017.
Thus, in January-may of 2018 was recorded natural population decrease of 147.2 thousand persons (against 111,8 thousand people in January-may 2017).
Migration gain only by 47.2% compensated numerical losses of the population. Migration gain in January-may 2018 amounted to 69.5 thousand people against 80.7 per thousand in January-may of 2017.
