Trump felt it important to say to Putin in the face of Russian interference in American elections
Moscow. July 16. INTERFAX.RU — U.S. President Donald trump said that he thought the right thing to say to Russian President Vladimir Putin directly about Moscow’s intervention in the American elections.
“During this meeting I had with President Putin talked about Russia’s intervention in our elections. I believe that it was better to tell him straight in the face,” said trump at a press conference following the talks with Putin.
He once again rejected allegations of collusion between his campaign staff and Moscow during the election campaign for the us presidential election. “We discussed this issue and it is important that there is no conspiracy,” said the US President.
According to trump, the investigation of an alleged Russian interference in the presidential election in the United States “had a negative impact on relations between the two largest nuclear powers.”
The US President noted that twelve Russians accused of involvement in intervention in U.S. elections, are irrelevant to electoral processes. He once again stressed that any collusion with Russia out of the question: “I didn’t know the President, and I don’t have anyone to conclude an agreement.”
In turn, Putin said that Russia does not interfere and is not going to interfere in the internal Affairs of the United States. He noted that during the negotiations with the American side trump touched on the subject of Russian interference in American elections. “President trump once again touched upon the so-called “Russian intervention” in the electoral process in the United States. I had to repeat what was already said repeatedly, including in private meetings with the President: that the Russian state never interfered and does not intend to interfere in American internal Affairs, including electoral processes,” he said.
The Russian President stressed that Russia is ready within the group on cybersecurity with the United States to consider the evidence about the intervention in the American elections, if any. “Any specific materials, if they are, we are ready to consider. For example, in the framework of a working group on cybersecurity, the creation of which we discussed with the President at the meeting in Hamburg,” — said Putin.
