MOSCOW, 16 Jul — RIA Novosti. Examination confirmed the authenticity of the remains of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family, told RIA Novosti the official representative of SK of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

“Currently, conclusions of comprehensive commissions of molecular-genetic examinations confirmed the identity of detected remains of the former Emperor Nicholas II, his family and persons from their environment,” she said.
Petrenko said that the investigation into the murder of members of the Russian Imperial house in 1918 is still ongoing but according to the findings of molecular-genetic examination, 7 of the 11 discovered the remains correspond to the family group — mother, father, four daughters and a son.
According to her, the results of the comparison of genetic profiles of skeletal remains and samples from living relatives of the Romanov family from both the paternal and maternal lines confirm that the remains belong to Nikolay II and members of his family.
In addition, the opinion of molecular-genetic examination to establish biological relationship of Emperor Alexander III (exhumed in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg) and the dead man, identified as Nicholas II, it follows that they are related at the level of father — son.
