In Volgograd have died, the sculptor of the memorial on Mamayev Kurgan

Member of the Union of artists of the USSR, Soviet and Russian sculptor Victor Fetisov has died on 81-m to year of life in Volgograd. People’s artist of Russia died after a long illness, one month before his birthday, reports TASS.

“Today in Volgograd died Victor Fetisov is famous all over the country sculptor who participated in the construction of the memorial complex “to Heroes of Stalingrad battle” on Mamaev Kurgan”, — said the representative of regional Committee of culture.

She noted that despite a prolonged illness, sculptor visited most of the city’s exhibitions and continued to be interested in creativity.

Yet the date and place of burial of the artist is not assigned.

Victor G. Fetisov was born on 7 Aug 1937 in Stalingrad. The hands of the master was created by the images of Alexander Pushkin, Felix Dzerzhinsky, Georgy Zhukov and many other heroes of Russian history. Besides the fact that Fetisov was involved in the creation of the memorial complex at Mamaev Kurgan, he also became the author and performer of the architectural composition on the legendary Pavlov’s House in Volgograd.
