Macron did not agree with trump about the dependence of Germany from Russia
The President of France Emmanuel Makron did not agree with the President of the United States Donald trump about the dependence of Germany on Russia.
About macron said in the beginning of the meeting with the American leader on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Brussels, according to Reuters.
Previously, trump said that Germany has become hostage to Russia because of the agreement in the energy sphere, in particular on the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream — 2”. The American leader said that Berlin is dependent on Moscow, because it gets “so much energy from Russia.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel responded to the criticism of trump. She said that Germany pursues an independent policy and makes independent decisions.
The NATO summit takes place in Brussels from 11 to 12 July.
The project “Northern stream — 2” provides for the construction of two lines of the pipeline from coast of Russia to Germany through the Baltic sea. The majority of European States support the project, criticizing the act of the United States, which intend to supply Europe with liquefied natural gas, as well as the Baltic countries, Poland and Ukraine.
