The Ministry has no plans to reconsider raising the retirement age
The Minister of labour Maxim Topilin in the state Duma said that his Department has no plans to revise the increase in age of retirement, as the indicators of the Ministry of labour were taken into account when drafting the bill.
“Discussion and preparation for the second reading of the situation somehow will clear up, — said Mr. Topilin journalists (quoted by TASS).— But while we do not plan to, of course. All the calculations and everything to do with the indexing, which I said, require this approach”.
The law on pension reform was submitted to the Duma by the government on 16 June. In accordance with him, by 2028 the age of retirement for men will increase from 60 to 65 years, and by 2034 the pension age for women will be increased from 55 to 63 years. The increase will be gradual and will begin in 2019. Thus it will not affect the 46.5 million people who receive pensions now.
Earlier it was reported that in the first reading the bill will be considered before the end of July, and in the final autumn of 2018. According to deputies, prior to final adoption of the bill they intend to discuss it with regional parliaments, as well as with trade unions and other public organizations.
