A huge sarcophagus of black granite and unusual white alabaster head of the statue was recovered from under the foundations of the old house during excavations on the territory of modern Alexandria.

In the province of Alexandria during the excavation of the Foundation of the old building were found two mysterious relic. One is a 30-ton sarcophagus of black granite, and beside him is the giant head of the statue of white alabaster, depicting perhaps the owner of the burial.

Examination of the sarcophagus showed what he is made of black granite with the height of 185 cm and a width of 265 cm

Ayman Ashmawy, head of the Department of Egyptian antiquities, said the tomb was discovered at a depth of 5 meters. He also noted that between the cover and body of the sarcophagus there is a layer of mortar, which indicates its tightness. At the moment it is the largest sarcophagus ever found in Alexandria, and experts attribute it to the reign of the Ptolemaic dynasty.

The retrieval of the finds was done not by archaeologists, and the security forces and services of the local authorities.
