Mikhail Boyarsky considers correct the decision to raise the retirement age
MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. Russian actor and singer, people’s artist of Russia Mikhail Boyarsky gave the correct decision of the Russian government to raise the retirement age. Thus, old age “postponed” and it encourages people, he said Friday during a telephone conversation with the correspondent of TASS.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a Cabinet meeting on June 14 stated that the government proposes to gradually raise the retirement age. In particular, the transition period will begin in 2019 and will last until 2028 for men and 2034 for women. Currently, the age of retirement for men and women is 60 and 55 years respectively.
I believe the Russian government is doing the right thing. I think people want to work. The lifetime increases, so raising the retirement age, seems right to me. The Russian government on Thursday approved a bill to extend the period of retirement. Currently, this age for men and women is 60 and 55 years respectively. As reported, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the bill proposes to introduce a sufficiently long transition period — it is proposed to start in 2019, to incrementally reach retirement at 65 years for men in 2028 and 63 years for women in 2034.
