Putin congratulated the residents of Kemerovo with the centenary of the city
MOSCOW, 11 Jun — RIA Novosti. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated the residents of Kemerovo 100th anniversary of the city and noted their respect for tradition and hard creative work, according to the Kremlin website.
“I cordially congratulate you on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Kemerovo. This anniversary is a big, important event in the life of the city of Kuzbass and Russia. The history of Kemerovo has written a courageous, talented people who have mastered rich in natural deposits was put into operation the objects of the coal mining, industrial, transport and social infrastructure,” — said in greeting.
Putin noted persistent creative labor of the citizens, due to which there was this large industrial, cultural, educational and scientific center, which became the capital of one of the economically developed regions of Western Siberia.
“It is gratifying that the residents of Kemerovo with great respect for the great traditions of their fathers and grandfathers, are seeking to effectively address the challenges facing the city challenges and justly famous for the breadth of soul, generosity and hospitality,” the President added.
The head of state expressed confidence that the love for the native land, persistence and Siberian in nature and will continue to assist people in the implementation of the plans.
The city of Kemerovo was founded on may 9, 1918 in the village of Shcheglovka on the basis of several settlements including the village of Kemerovo, originally called Shcheglovsk and was part of the Tomsk province. Renamed in Kemerovo in 1932.
