Poroshenko called the Church social network

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called the Church social network. He stated this during a meeting with students of National University of Taras Shevchenko, RIA Novosti reported.

“I don’t like any social network is guided by the office, which is located in Moscow. By the way, the Church is also a concern, because it is also in a certain way the social network”, he said.

May 13, the Holy Synod canonically unrecognized Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchate has accused Russia of meddling in its “Church business”. The clergy noted that Moscow is trying to hamper the process of obtaining autocephaly. The Church underlines that the Russian government and the leadership of the Moscow Patriarchate carried out the pressure on Constantinople.

In April, Poroshenko appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with an appeal about the publication of Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in the country.

In Ukraine there are three religious organizations that identify themselves as Orthodox Christians. Two of them — the Kyivan Patriarchate (introduced in 1992) and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (organized Diaspora in North America and Western Europe) is not recognized by the Orthodox churches of other countries. Considered only the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
