Ukraine will remove restrictions on the import of weapons

KIEV, June 7. /TASS/ — This will allow you to strengthen the defense capability of the country, said Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov.

The national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) will soon remove restrictions on the import of military equipment and weapons into the country, including private institutions.

This was stated on Thursday, the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov at the meeting of the national expert forum.

“I want to announce that the national security Council prepares decision on liberalization of foreign trade activities, and we plan to make this decision in the near future,” he said.

This resolution provides authorization for direct export of all military equipment and weapons.

Turchinov explained that this decision will also allow the import of military purpose products for the needs of manufacturers of military equipment in Ukraine and for the needs of the Armed forces, as well as for the private sector. “We allow import of weapons and military equipment to private entities that are dealers, suppliers of these weapons of war, we are removing all restrictions on direct contracts for our power structures, with regard to the purchase of weapons abroad,” — said the NSDC Secretary.

According to Turchynov, it would “significantly strengthen the defenses” of Ukraine. He also added that currently more than 50% of the state defense order is carried out by private companies, and that in the future their share will only increase.
