Browder has accused Spanish police of illegal detention

Moscow. June 1. INTERFAX.RU — Founder of Hermitage Capital William Browder on Friday urged the national police of Spain to account for the fact that her staff had detained him in Madrid at the request of the Russian Interpol.

According to Browder, the arrest was made illegally.

“Spanish national police have to answer for the fact that I was illegally detained on Wednesday”, — he wrote on Twitter.

Earlier Wednesday, Browder, sentenced in absentia by a Russian court for committing serious financial crimes, said that was detained in Madrid under the current order of the Russian Federation, which is already the sixth. However, after a few hours the businessman was released.
