Earlier Tuesday, Yevgeny Roizman at the meeting of the city Council announced the resignation of the head of Ekaterinburg. He explained that he considered the law to abolish direct mayoral elections unconstitutional.
The type of voting was canceled in Yekaterinburg in early April. Now the head of the city will elect not residents, and elected deputies of the city Duma.
Roizman was elected in 2013. His term of office expires in September 2018.
